I have not posted in a long time, but these are the books I have been reading. I have been reading Little Women, and it is a very, very, very splendid book. It is about four girls and their mother. Their father is at war, and I do not know what war he is in. The girls' names are Margaret(the sisters call her Meg), Josephine(the sisters call her Jo), Elizabeth(the sisters call her Beth), and Amy. Meg is the oldest, Amy the youngest, Jo the older middle, and Beth the younger middle. They go through so many hardships, but there is lots of happiness, too. It also has beautiful pictures. Oh! I almost forgot! The author is Louisa May Alcott.
The other book I have been reading is the second book of Ember, it is called The People of Sparks. I finished it on the night of the 12th because I stayed up till 10:50 reading! There was a fire and Lina helped put it out. there was a fire because some of the Emberites were fighting. It was a really, really, really cool book!

Hi Book Fairy!
I love hearing about more books. Little Women is a classic. They are considered friends by so many of us grown-ups. Glad you got to meet them. Now they are your friends too.
We all enjoyed The People of Sparks. I am glad they finally figured out how to get along. It took awhile though, didn't it?
Your cousin and I are reading Enders Game. It was confusing at first but now he is really into it.
Hi again - I actually wrote the Meli comment to you. I couldn't remember my password. Silly me. Hey, I have been trying 'Set' and I just don't see the sets! How did you get so good?????
Meli LOVED the Edge Chronicles. Do you like books like that? Pretend worlds, odd creatures and such?
Love, Auntie
Mr March, the girls' dad, was in the Civil War, so the story takes place sometime between 1861 and 1864. The March family lives in Massachusetts but the war was fought in the South. I think the northernmost battle was in Fredericksburg, Maryland. It was fought because the Southern states did not want to give up owning Negro slaves, and the North wanted them to be freed. People had very strong feelings about this, and they still do. Louisa May Alcott and her father, Bronson, were among a group of New England authors who wrote strongly in favor of letting the slaves go free.
Everyone loves Little Women. There are several movie versions: Katherine Hepburn and Wynona Ryder have been very successful Jo's.
Do you think Jo should have married Laurie? Or was Amy the better match? Was Aunt March mean not to take Jo to Europe?
What did you think of Jo's plays? Do you and your sister and friends ever make up something like that? You don't really need a hidden-away attic!
I still haven't read the Ember books, but I will. I'm right now in the middle of a new novel called Lavinia by Ursula LeGuin. I heard her read from her book about three weeks ago. It's a beautiful, spacy book that takes place in Italy before the founding of Rome. I'm also reading David McCullough's biography of John Adams and learning much I never knew before about the American Revolution.

Hello Book Fairy,
I just loved Little Women! I do believe that I cried while reading it. The relationship between the women and their resiliency is amazing. Are you connecting with any of the characters?
With summer coming, I will be able to read more books. Do you prefer one place over another to read your books? Outside is my favorite! Hiding in the garden and listening to the birds relaxes me.
We, here on the island, are very proud of you and the fact that you are reading different genres. Way to go girl.
Hugs,
julia
Which sister do you identify with most Book Fairy? Have you read "Ruby Holler?" Or "Everything on a Waffle?" They were some of the funniest books I've read in the past 5 years.
Love,
Libby
